Peru has exported 35% more table grapes this year

After experiencing large peaks in shipments at the beginning of the year, Peruvian grape exports have cooled but stayed ahead of last year’s pace, according to Agraria.

Last week Peru exported 508 tons of grapes, 3 percent higher than the same week of the previous year. This was a contribution to the positive trend that the fruit presented so far this year, since in the accumulated growth was close to 35 percent, adding up to about 324,678 tons shipped.

In this last week, nine Peruvian exporters participated. Despite this, these were more than enough to exceed the volumes of the same week in 2022. The ones that stood out the most were Procesadora Laran S.A.C., with a 26 percent share; followed by Multifoods S.A.C., with 21 percent; and Pura Fruit Company S.A., with 14 percent.

Regarding importers, 12 companies from different parts of the world participated. The most prominent were Walmart Inc., with a 26 percent share; followed by Transnational Foods LLC., with a 21 percent share; and Hoofdman – Roodzant B.V., with a 12 percent stake.

Agraria reports that 82 percent of the grapes exported last week were dispatched through the port of Callao, while the rest left through Paita.
