As a part of the company's strategic succession plan, Frank Curci, CEO of Northeast Grocery, Inc. (NGI), the parent company of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops Friendly Markets, has announced his retirement.

Edible Garden AG Incorporated, a leader in controlled environment agriculture (CEA), locally grown, organic, and sustainable produce and products, today announced that Tops Friendly Markets, a subsidiary of Northeast Grocery, will begin carrying Edible Garden’s products in all of their locations across New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.

Northeast Grocery, Inc., the parent company of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops Friendly Markets, has named John Persons as Chief Operating Officer.

Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in New York, northern Pennsylvania, and Vermont, today announced the company is expanding its program with Flashfood, a digital marketplace that provides shoppers with access to heavily discounted food nearing its best-by date, to 18 additional Rochester-area stores.

Scott Grimmett, the current president and CEO of Price Chopper/Market 32, will lead the new parent company Northeast Grocery Inc.

Tops Friendly Markets is continuing its commitment to sustainability through the steady expansion of the Flashfood program, which now includes 17 additional stores throughout the Western New York region.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Launched initially at six stores in Western New York, this innovative and interactive in-store program allows customers to purchase food nearing its sell-by date to save money and to help reduce food waste.
