The Texas International Produce Association proudly announces the induction of five distinguished individuals into the Texas Produce Hall of Fame.

The Texas International Produce Association (TIPA) proudly invites industry members to apply for this year’s challenge which will kick off in mid-October and will culminate at the 2024 Viva Fresh Expo in Houston on April 13th.

On Friday, September 1st, 2023, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Market News began reporting Limes in a manner that is more consistent with the many grade offerings of that commodity so as to better reflect the range of quality that exists in the marketplace by using “Appearance.”

The South Texas Onion Committee (STOC) was busy April through mid-July promoting Texas 1015 Sweet Onions, resulting in another record-breaking marketing program this spring and early summer focusing on increasing brand awareness and sales of the Texas 1015 Sweet Onion.

Of late much of the media conversation about water use has focused on California, but Texas, with its own multiyear drought, faces similar pressures.

The Texas International Produce Association has once again teamed up with the North Texas Food Bank of Plano, TX to help close the hunger gap. At the conclusion of the Viva Fresh Expo earlier this month, a total of 21,806 lbs of fresh produce was donated.

The Texas International Produce Association is busy promoting Texas 1015 Sweet Onions (TX1015) thanks to a USDA-AMS Specialty Crop Block Grant administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

This was the second April in Austin event TIPA organized. From talking to participants, the grass-roots lobbying efforts were fruitful, with direct contact with lawmakers, and raising awareness for issues affecting the Texas produce industry.

The 8th Annual Viva Fresh Open, presented by BEBO Distributing, Inc. and H-E-B tees off for another year on March 30th.
