Gills Onions of Oxnard, CA is voluntarily recalling Gills Onions branded fresh diced onions products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a report on its investigation of the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak that caused 88 reported illnesses and 32 hospitalizations in the U.S. between July and September 2022.

Wegmans is voluntarily recalling these products because some of the soil they were grown in, supplied to Wegmans Organic Farm by bio365 of Ithaca, New York, tested positive for Salmonella by the supplier.

The lawsuit was filed in Tarrant County, Texas on behalf of Lisa Rodriguez and Jose Gonzales who purchased, prepared, and consumed food containing the contaminated onions.

The onions were distributed in 25lb/50lb mesh sacks. They contain a label that is marked as MVP (product of MX), but were processed at Keeler Family Farms. The last to ship was on August 25, 2021.
