The exact amount of the damage done to Florida by Hurricane Ian is starting to come into focus.

Hurricane Ian made landfall in the United States as a Category 4 system on September 28 on Cayo Costa Island, followed by a second landfall on the southwestern peninsula of Florida near Punta Gorda.

Florida’s November tomato crop will be smaller than normal due to the impact of Hurricane Ian, but Florida will remain a significant supplier from now through December.

Due to the overwhelming need for disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Ian, the Southeast Produce Council has made a $10,000 donation to Samaritan’s Purse.

Currently, World Central Kitchen is providing meals in community distribution points in Port Charlotte, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers, multiple Lee County hospitals, Sanibel and Pine Islands, as well as additional food truck placements across several severely impacted communities.
