From the beginning of this campaign (April 1) to June 26, Peru exported 40.6 million kilos of fresh mandarins, reflecting a decrease of 4 percent compared to the same period the previous year, according to Fernando Cilloniz Benavides, president of the consulting firm Inform@ccion.
Benavides says that in the analyzed period of 2023, fresh mandarin export figures were as follows; April 7,201,434 kilos; May 12,956,493 kilos; and June (as of the 26th) 20,421,639 kilos.
Despite the drop in volume, a positive campaign is expected for mandarins, since July and August are still to come, and that is where the peak of the season is recorded. The season ends in September.
The main destinations for fresh mandarin exports are the U.S., the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan, and Canada, among others.
